From Here to There is a moving company built around supporting people through life’s transitions. Their work includes helping families settle into new homes and guiding older adults through sensitive relocations. As the business grew, the founders wanted an identity that reflected their personality and the care behind their service.

The project centered on evolving their DIY branding into a distinctive visual system while preserving their original compass. Through retro-inspired lettering and a cast of illustrated characters, I developed a direction that brought their white-glove approach to life across the brand.

Visual Brand Identity

On The Job

Mini Brand Launcher

From Here to There’s existing branding no longer reflected how the founders wanted the company to be perceived. They needed to stand out in a market filled with familiar moving imagery while communicating a more personal, attentive experience.

Their original compass carried meaning they wanted to preserve. It represented guidance through a larger life journey and their appreciation for a time-tested navigation tool. The challenge was to retain that connection while giving the brand more personality and the polish expected of a premium service.

Their business was evolving. Their identity needed to follow.

The Problem

The identity needed to feel welcoming to families navigating stressful moves and credible to real estate agents recommending a service to their clients. It had to express the founders’ playful personality while showing that they took their responsibilities seriously.

Beyond the primary logo, the goal was a flexible system that could remain recognizable across truck graphics, crew apparel, and smaller digital placements.

Make care visible from the first impression.

The Goal

Audience research focused on two important groups: real estate agents protecting their professional reputation and adult children coordinating moves for their parents. Both needed dependable service, but the emotional stakes differed. Agents wanted confidence in the people they recommended; families needed reassurance that their loved ones would be treated with patience and respect.

Competitor research showed a recurring emphasis on physical strength, speed, and familiar red-and-blue branding. This created an opportunity to make the emotional experience of moving more visible through a warmer, more expressive identity.

The founders’ references pointed toward retro design. During our conversations, they repeatedly described a “white-glove experience,” and I kept picturing the oversized white gloves of vintage cartoon characters. That connection became the starting point for translating their service philosophy into illustration.

Connecting the founders’ personality with the people they serve.

The Approach

I reimagined the compass as a friendly character who guides customers from one place to the next. This preserved the meaning of the original symbol while giving it an active role within the identity.

The creative direction combined vintage Americana with expressive cartoon illustration. Rounded lettering and warm neutrals supported the approachable feel, while black and golden yellow added contrast and visibility. The white gloves connected the character’s appearance directly to the attentive service the founders described.

A familiar compass with a new role to play.

The Solution

The primary logo places the compass character within a flowing wordmark. One hand points toward “From,” while the other reaches for “There,” connecting the beginning and destination of the journey. Touching letterforms and an upward swoosh reinforce continuity and forward movement, with “Moving with Care” anchoring the composition.

A supporting cast of box, tape, and fragile-sticker characters extends the concept through familiar moving-day objects. Their shared illustration style and white gloves keep the system cohesive. Checkered accents reinforce the vintage style, while paper and cardboard-inspired textures connect the designs to the physical experience of packing.

The typography system pairs a bold retro display face with simpler supporting fonts for hierarchy and readability. Photography direction focuses on careful handling, crew interactions, and families settling into their new spaces, making room for the people behind the illustrations.

Turning one character into a complete visual system.

The Execution

The developed identity includes multiple logo arrangements, a compact initials-based submark, and a standalone compass character. Supporting illustrations, patterns, color specifications, and typography guidance provide a consistent foundation for future materials.

Application concepts demonstrate how the system could extend across truck graphics, packaging tape, apparel, signage, and digital layouts. Together, they show how the same identity can accommodate a large roadside impression or a small branded detail while retaining its personality.

Built to carry the idea beyond the logo.

The System
